1. Navigate to the Applications management page

2. Click on Settings

3. Click on Custom Questions

4. Click on New

5. Add a name for the custom question

This value should contain the question you want to ask the applicant.

6. Choose a type

  • File Upload - Allow the applicant to upload a file

  • Multiple Choice - After choosing this option, a new field will appear directly below this one asking you to enter the options you'd like the applicant to choose from. When you click into the options field, start typing to add your options.

  • Multiple Choice (Multiple Select) - This option works the exact same way as multiple choice but the applicant will be able to select more than one option.

  • Text Area (WYSIWYG) - This will allow the applicant to enter a lot of text. So if you want them to type a paragraph, this is the option you'd want to choose.

  • Text - This will allow the applicant to type a small amount of text

  • Yes/No - The applicant will be able to choose yes or no

7. Specify directions for the question

If you want to provide the applicant with instructions to how a question should be answered, you'd want to type that here.

8. Choose a minimum character length

If you want the applicant to specify at least X number of characters for a text/textarea field, you'd specify that minimum requirement here.

9. Choose a Sort Order

This is a numeric value used to change the order of the questions when the applicant is answering them

10. Choose if you'd like the question to be required

11. Choose if you'd like a counselor to be able to edit the response

When the counselor is giving the information you require, they will have the opportunity to change responses by students for custom questions that have this box checked.

12. Save the Question

Did this answer your question?
