SIS Integration Information
Information about a SIS integration and why/how you would set it up for your school.
What is a SIS Integration?
A Student Information System, or SIS, is software that is used to manage student data like grades, attendance, and course enrollments. Depending on what SIS your school is using, we may be able to sync data from your SIS into Jobready WBL, CTE-360, or K12-360. This is what is referred to as a SIS integration.
Why would I want to use a SIS integration?
Integrating with your SIS, allows students, guardians, teachers, and course data to be transferred to our application automatically on a daily basis. For instance, this means that as new students are added to your SIS, they will show up in our application. If you do not use a SIS integration, you would need to create the student accounts on your own.
What Student Information Systems do you integrate with?
We are able to work with any software that complies with the OneRoster API specification as well as a few others. We currently support v1.0, v1.1, and v1.2 of the OneRoster API. We also have a PowerSchool plugin that can be used and we also support nightly CSV file imports via a SFTP server. Classlink Roster Server and Clever apps for Jobready WBL and CTE-360 can also be used to provide a OneRoster connection.
This list continues to grow, but here are some Student Information Systems that we currently work with.
What must be done to set up a SIS integration?
For our application to communicate with your SIS, there are a few things that must be done.
Step 1: Enable access in your SIS. This process varies depending on what SIS you are using. Here are some guides that you can use for each SIS.
How is the SIS integration configured?
Note: To access the SIS Integration configuration, log in to your application with a school administrator account.
1. Click on Settings in the navigation menu.
2. Click on Global Settings
3. Click on Integration tab, as shown below.
4. Click on New
Enter a name to describe this integration, then select the SIS type from the drop-down list.
Enter the Client ID and Client Secret that you obtained from your SIS.
If using OneRoster v1.2, provide the SIS App Name. If using the PowerSchool plugin, you can use the Use Is Vocational flag to only sync courses that have this option set in PowerSchool. You can also use some of the remaining options to limit the data we store and to restrict access to students.
How are courses in the SIS aligned to CTE classes?
Class enrollment rules are used to make a linkage between your SIS courses and the class in the application. For more information, click here to configure your rules.
