How do I create a Grade Scale?

1. Click on Settings

2. Click on Grade Scales

3. Click on New

4. Specify the name of the grade scale

If this will be the only grade scale and you plan to use this for all grading in your instance, a common name would be "Primary". You can also make additional grade scales that may just be used for WBL skill sets, you may want to name that accordingly.

5. Select a display style

There are a few display styles we support. This is essentially how you want the score to show when viewing and specifying the grade for a student.

Percent - This will make the score show percentages

Grade Points - This will show the grade points

Grade - This will show the grade letter

6. Choose if this is the active grade scale

Setting this to active will unset any other grade scales that are active and use this as the primary grade scale used when grading tasks.

7. Specify ungraded text

This is what will show if the student has not been exposed to the skill at all. You can make it show as blank, or "Unexposed", or "Ungraded". Basically whatever fits your school's needs.

8. Click on Add Grade Scale

9. Click on the action button next to the grade scale you just created

10. Click on Ranges

11. Here you will see an example of how we set up a primary grade scale for our demo environment

12. Click on New to create your own range

13. Specify the grade

This is typically the grade letter (A, B, C, etc)

14. Specify a description

This is where you can specify a short typically one-word description of the range. (Proficient, Advanced, Basic, etc)

15. Specify the number of grade points

You can make the range relate to a specific grade point (1, 2, 3, etc)

16. Specify the cutoff percentage

This is essentially how we store the grade in the background. So, for example, if you have your "Advanced" range as a cut off of 76, we will store 76 as the grade given for anyone who gets advanced for any task. If you ever change the display type to percent where it used to show the grade points, it will now show that cutoff percentage of 76 instead.

17. Choose the color associated with this range

18. Choose whether or not this range is a passing grade

19. Click on Add Grade Scale Range
