How can I view the system from another user's perspective?

Introduction

In order to view the system from another user's perspective, you can use the login as button that is found in the Student, Teacher, Staff, and School Account views. We intentionally don't allow you to log in as another school administrator because there would be no benefit to doing so.

Since you will be granted the exact security as the user account you're impersonating, this feature is ONLY available for school administrators due to how powerful it can be. We don't recommend using this feature to update any data on the user's behalf unless you understand what you're changing for them. For instance, a good reason to log in as another user and change information is if you are changing their notification settings for them so they don't receive unwanted email notifications.

You may want to log into to see what a screen looks like for another user to provide training or grab screen captures to make documentation. You can also use this to see exactly what security the other user has.

Instructions

Navigate to the view that relates to the user account you're trying to impersonate. For this example, we will be logging in as a Sending School Account.

Find the account you'd like to impersonate and click the action button.

Here you will see the Login As option



After you click that, the page will refresh and you will typically see and access denied page. You are getting this because the user account you just logged in as does not have access to the page you are currently on.

Now you are seeing exactly what that user sees when they log into the system.

After you are done and want to go back to your account, you'll click on the avatar in the top right corner.

You'll notice that the "Log out" button has been replaced by "Restore Original Session"



After clicking that, you will be logged back into your originally authenticated account.
